July 25, 2010

Today has been a busy day at the Richards house. Once we got up, it was non stop all day here. Daddy gave the yard a MUCH needed mowing, while Mama and Madden headed over to Party City. For those of you who may not know I am Jess's Maid of Honor in her upcoming nuptials August 7th! I am so honored and only hope I can live up to the title. Anyways, I needed to pick up a couple extra things I forgot I needed for the Bridal Shower. So after we got done there we headed back home and got ready for the pool!
With it being so horribly hot out, it seems that is the only activity it is safe to do at this point. Plus Madden loves hanging out in his floaty turtle. So we hung out there with Phyllis for a while and started talking about fried chicken. Which then we all decided we need to leave so we could go get something to eat. Thomas and I hit up Arby's which is definitely not our usual pick, but we haven't had it in probably a year or so. It was alright, it kind of made me remember why we don't go there that often! Then it was time for a much needed nap for Madden, and mama ran a few errands. After I got back, we fed Madden and then the money spending began!

Some of you may not know this, but children make you crazy! For example, when Madden was probably around 6 months old, I was having some issues getting him to take his bottle. We have had issues with Madden and food from day one. So needless to say this day I was in a horrible mood, so much so that I slammed our microwave so hard that I made the glass front shatter into a million pieces. After this happened, I was sure that the microwave was broke. Thankfully I was wrong and it still worked. Well it wasn't until recently that I thought we may need to just go ahead and get a new microwave, since there was still some glass stuck in the old one and it just did not look good. We went to Lowes tonight and got ourselves a new stainless steel microwave for over our range. Thomas does not think the Stainless steel will go right with our black appliances, so I hope he is wrong! Hopefully within a few days it will be installed and I will take some pictures.

After Lowes we hit up Target because Thomas wanted to go ahead and get Madden's birthday present. It is a fisher price work station, and it is exclusive to Target so we wanted to make sure we got it before they stopped making them. It is pretty neat in the fact that you buy the little work station, and then you can buy different play sets to go along with it. We got Madden the tool bench play set, and the kitchen play set. He has not gotten to play with it yet so I am eager to see what he thinks of it when he see's it in the morning. As Thomas and I got done assembling the toy, we started to notice the MASSIVE amounts of toys that Madden has. We went through and cleared out anything we know he doesn't play with anymore, and yet we were still left with a ton of stuff. Oh well, I'm sure one day I will be sad to see all this stuff get packed away, but for now it would be nice to have a living room not taken over by toys! I'll post some recent pics, and show you how
Madden has taken over!

July 15, 2010

Today is the first day since I got my teeth pulled that I have actually felt somewhat better. Instead of taking Advil I took Tylenol, and I think I only took that 2-3 times through the entire 24 hours. In other news I took Madden to the pool again, and of course he had a marvelous time. Phyllis joined us up there and snapped a few cute shots with her camera! I'll post a few at the bottom for everyone's amusement. There were a couple noodles floating around in the pool, and so he tried to corral them up. Some of you may not know this but my child has terrible OCD. I think it is a sure sign of just how intelligent he is, but he LOVES to stack and balance things. He makes things balance that even I can't get to balance. Sometimes when I am watching him do this I think to myself, he is either going to be a magician, or some genius scientist. He definitely has a lot of his daddy in him.

In other news I am trying to get the house cleaned up before Laura and David get here. I know they don't care how our house looks, but I hate to have a messy house when company is coming over. Looking forward to taking them to Blue Ash Chili, Ikea, Half Price Books, and wherever else they desire to go. With them only being here a full day and a half we have a lot to cram in. Hopefully Madden will be on his best behavior, as he always is!

One other note, for all my Christmas people. Just to let you know I officially bought my first Christmas present of the year! I know that sounds crazy since it is the middle of July, but I saw a good sale and could not pass up the bargain! Let the Christmas shopping season commence!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

July 12, 2010

Sorry about my poor posting! I have to admit that for the last few weeks my main concern has been a dentist appointment that is now finally over with! HOORAY! I knew going into my appointment today that they were going to have to pull 2 teeth and so I have been sick with worry about it the last few weeks. Of course everything went fine, and I now have a much healthier mouth. I do have to go back in a couple weeks to get a cavity filled, and then after that I can hopefully start the invisalign process. I am still kind of on the fence about the whole thing, because it is a costly procedure. I have always had crooked teeth and so for me to have a smile that I am proud of I almost think you can't put a price tag on that. We'll see what happens, I will keep everyone posted.

In other news, we have a water baby on our hands. It all started when we got an inflatable pool for Madden to enjoy this summer. We were hoping that he would get some enjoyment out of it. Little did we know that we would have a child who never wanted to leave the pool. Anytime we would take him out of the water he would throw a fit and cry uncontrollably. Then Phyllis gave us a pass to her neighborhood pool, and it has truly been a blessing for us. Not only does it have a kiddie pool that Madden loves to just run around in, but it also has a big pool for the parents. It's great because now Mommy and Daddy can swim and play too. Thomas and I decided that in the next house we own we are going to make sure that there is a neighborhood pool that we can join. With the summer's being as hot as they are, it really is nice to have a place to go cool off and have fun.

I am still trying to get Madden to say more words, but it just seems like he has no interest in saying anything new. He is very smart, so I am not worried that he is not understanding what I am saying, but it would be nice to get some responses every once in a while. Although when he looks at me with that cute face he doesn't really have to say anything. We got a lot of compliments on how cute Madden is in the last week, and although you always think your child is cute others may not. There were three separate incidents in the last week where people went out of there way to tell us how cute Madden is. Who knew Thomas and I could make such a cutie patootie!

I have got some more things to do, so I will leave you all with a few new pics, and my BEAUTIFUL Star Gazers that just bloomed!
